Lakes dedication at Manderson Trust
In 2025, our dedicated volunteers embarked on a significant journey to enhance the beauty and ecological balance of Manderson Trust lakes. From removing invasive lilies with our boat to strategic tree management improving water flow and tackling Norfolk Reed, every effort has been made. We've also reinforced banks with new plantings, nurturing the natural habitat around our waters. This ongoing project, powered by countless volunteer hours, is a testament to our commitment to creating exceptional angling environments for everyone to enjoy.

2026 - Lake 5 Lily removal
The Trustees at Mandersons have recently lowered the water levels to allow our dedicated team to carry out essential maintenance work around the lakes.
The team has been working hard to remove as much weed, lily roots, hedge cuttings, oxidation weed and other unwanted debris as possible. This is an ongoing project, and we will continue working to improve and maintain the lakes for everyone to enjoy. A big thank you to all our amazing volunteers who gave up their time to come along and help with this work. Your continued support and hard work are greatly appreciated and make a real difference to Mandersons.
2026 - Lake 5 Fishing Platforms - Current Changes:
On the eastern side of Lake 5, all single platforms have been removed. Platforms have been elevated to accommodate rising water levels, the number of single platforms has been cut by fifty percent. Double swims would ensure safe fishing experiences for disabled anglers with assistance. This enhancement allows anglers to fish with friends and family, enriching their experience. Such changes would greatly improve accessibility and inclusivity at the lake.
2026 - Environmental Management Works
“New year, new start at Mandersons. We’re currently removing bushes and pollarding trees to open up areas on the west side of Lake 5. This work will help wind move across the lakes, improving water circulation and reducing leaves and debris entering the water.
2025 - Crystal clear commitment
November 2025 marked a significant milestone in our water quality initiative. All our lakes received an application of Siltex, a proven treatment designed to improve water clarity, reduce silt, and enhance the overall health of the aquatic environment. This vital work ensures a cleaner, more vibrant ecosystem, directly contributing to the well-being of our fish stocks and the natural beauty of the surroundings.

The hard work carried out in 2025 directly translates into a superior experience for all visitors. Anglers will benefit from significantly improved water quality and richer natural surroundings, with new planting helping to stabilise the banks and create a more vibrant habitat for fish.
2025 - Enhancing our waterscapes
Throughout 2025, a major focus was placed on the meticulous management of our aquatic and bankside flora. This involved the careful removal of unwanted plant species, followed by the strategic replanting of beneficial varieties designed to firm up banks and support local ecosystems. Our specialist boat was instrumental in clearing submerged weeds and ensuring the cleanliness of the lake beds, creating healthier environments for fish and wildlife.
