What's biting?

Our lakes are home to a wide variety of fish, promising an exciting challenge for every angler. You can expect to catch mirror carp, common carp, bream, rudd, roach, perch, crucian carp, grass carp, and tench. Please note that there are set rules specific to each lake to ensure successful and responsible fishing for all.

Fishing for everyone

At The Manderson Trust, we are always looking for ways to suit disabled and less able-bodied individuals. We have been actively looking into making platforms safer and more accessible for wheelchairs. We are incredibly grateful for any ideas or suggestions from people fishing at Manderson’s to see if they can be put in place to help make the experience even better for everyone.

Toilet facilities are available for disabled and able-bodied fishermen and are always well stocked. Please leave the facilities as you find them and dispose of all rubbish in the bins provided. These toilet facilities are secured with a coded door lock, which will be provided upon joining the Manderson Trust.

Lake 1

  • Strategic Layout: Its long, narrow shape is ideal for pole fishing, as it allows anglers to reach the "far shelf" easily, which is often where the fish feel most secure.

  • Diverse Stock: The combination of silver fish, bream, and small carp creates a "mixed bag" fishery, ensuring that the float stays busy throughout the day.

  • Pleasure & Competition: While its layout is perfect for the organized structure of match fishing, the recent bream restocking makes it a great choice for a relaxed afternoon of pleasure fishing.

Length: 200m, Width: 9 - 10m, Depth: 4' - 4'6" - 0.5 acres - 15 pegs

Lake 3

Lake Overview: The "Youngster’s Favorite"

  • Prime Location: Conveniently situated in front and to the left as you enter the site.

  • High Activity: Being well-stocked with silver fish and a wide variety of species ensures that the float stays moving, which is great for building confidence in beginners.

  • Universal Appeal: While it’s the smallest lake and perfect for kids, the diversity of fish types means adults can still enjoy a productive, high-volume session.

Length: 95m, Width: 15 - 16m, Depth: 4' - 4'6" - 0.4 acres - 7 pegs

Lake 4

Lake Overview: The "Finesse" Water

  • Location: Positioned at the front-right of the complex, balancing out the entrance area.

  • Dimensions: Shorter than the "canal-style" Lake 1, but its extra width likely allows for a more varied underwater topography (like deeper holes or lily pad margins).

  • Species Shift: Moving toward a specialized mix of Tench, Bream, Crucian carp, and silver fish. This is a bold move that appeals to "purist" anglers who prefer the golden color of a Crucian or the "bubbles" of a feeding Tench.

  • Technique: Perfect for pole fishing or light float work, where presentation is key.

Length: 140m, Width: 10 - 16m, Depth: 3'6" - 5'6" - 0.5 acres - 11 pegs

Lake 5

Lake Overview: The Specimen & Night Lake

  • Position: It is the large lake situated on the right as you enter the complex.

  • Depth & Layout: Although the lake is quite wide, it is relatively shallow, reaching a maximum depth of about 6ft in certain areas.

  • Stocked Species: It holds a diverse range of fish, including roach, bream, tench, and perch.

  • The Big Hitters: This lake is home to both common and mirror carp that reach up to the 22lb mark.

  • Night Fishing: This is the specifically recommended lake for members with night permits looking to do an overnight session.

Length: 135m, Width: 33 - 36m, Depth: 3' - 5'6" - 1.2 acres - 28 pegs
